RE: How do I find Elevation and skew...

I have put together two Dish network dishes for Direct TV. I set the skew on 90. They both work fine with a 98-99 signal. Later! Frank

RE: Tuning DirectTv dish signal?????

I had Dish for the last eight years and recently switched to Direct. I find Direct a lot easier to set up. I dry camp 100% of the time and almost always in the piny woods. Once I found out that the satellite signal actually hits the dish 22 degrees above the angle you set up the dish for life has been a lot better. I have found a few things that make set up easier. I have a Wineguard tri-pod that has one leg marked for north. There are several little tricks I learned that will work for everyone anywhere. I good compass is better that 10 cheap ones. The closer to north I align my tri-pod the easier I find the signal. I marked the tripod and put a corresponding mark on the mask while set up in the drive way. I have set up my system several times over 300 miles from home and had a signal when I turned on the receiver. I have experimented with long runs of RG-6. I have a 100' run I on a reel I use all the time and can get 98-99 on the signal meter. I ran all the way out to 225' with the Dish setup with very little signal loss. Hope some of this helps. Later! RE: wireless mouse died

My Logitech mouse quits for no apparent reason once in a great while. The only way to restart it is to unplug the antenna from the USB port and plug it back in. Later! Frank

RE: I Recomend a Yahama 2400 gen

This tread reminds me of the time I posted that my EU2000 would run my 13.5 A/C. It would run it all day long at my home elevation of 4300' at 80 degrees. It would not run it over five minutes at 90 degrees or even at 80 at 6000'. I now have twin EU2000s. At 4300' they will do 20 amps. Yours may vary. Later! Frank

RE: Vacuum

Before spending money on your system make sure it is operating correctly without any leaks. The brake booster is the big user. If you aren't having brake problems find the leaks. Later! Frank

RE: Dish Network connection problem....meter ?

There is a learning curve using a signal meter as grey eagle explained. If you read the directions that came with the meter it will tell you to turn the gain up until the needle moves above half scale. Mine will not work below this setting. Later! Frank

Dish/Direct Questions

I have spent some time searching and can't find what I need. For my location the elevation for the dish is approximately 41 degrees. Is it true that the signal from the satellite is approximately 20 degrees above this? How many compass degrees apart are 110 & 119? Later! Frank

RE: Yahama 2400 running 15,000 BTU A/C

Rusty, I don't think anyone here can tell you for sure. There are too many variables. Three years ago I purchased my first Honda 2000 to run my 13.5K A/C. A lot of folks here said it would without a doubt. It would run it up to 80 degrees in my driveway at 4300'. It would not above 85 degrees or at 6500'. I have since bought another 2000. The two together are good for 20 amps continuous in my driveway. Later! Frank

RE: trailer tires

Improperly bent/aligned axles are a common problem on all makes and models. It has been a long time since I bent truck axles for a living. Camber problems are easy. I don't know how they would correct a toe in/out problem. I have an idea but have never seen the equipment. It might be as simple as turning the axle 180. Later! Frank
